Bolsover Gala
Sunday, June 28 2009
11am to 4pm, at Hornscroft Park, Langwith Road, Bolsover, S44
Families are sure to have a fantastic time at the Bolsover Gala this year. We have an entertaining and fun programme for all the family and everyone is welcome. Bring chairs and rugs and make an afternoon of it - there’ll be food and drink retailers and a licensed bar.
Be amazed at the strength of the three times winner of the UK's Strongest Man Competition, Adrian Smith. His show is full of dazzling feats of strength, fun and audience participation. Also delighting visitors will be the Greentop Community Circus, Pinxton Puppets, Wally the Clown and Ben Loughrill’s Chainsaw Sculptures, all showing their skills and entertaining the crowds, as will the Pleasley Miners Welfare Brass Band. Other attractions include demonstrations from local dance groups, Harlequin School of Dance, and Fallen Angels.
Proud parents and grandparents can watch their children get creative and try their hand at card making or work with artist Andrew Tebbs, designing T-shirts, mosaics and badge making. They can join in free workshops - learn dance routines with the Fallen Angels, and circus techniques with the Greentop Circus. Or, they can just go wild on the bouncy castle, slide, rides, helter skelter, climbing wall and Carr Vale Colts goal kicks.
Stall holders are selling, wooden toys, jewellery, crafts and wools, hand-made cards, kitchenware, cakes, books, cosmetics, nail art, face painting and henna tattooist. Plus many local services, charities, clubs and schools have fund-raising stalls and displays.
